Confirmation of Payee and POLi Payments

The banking industry is planning to launch a new service called Confirmation of Payee on 28 November 2024. Your bank may have already contacted you about this service and explained that Internet Banking payments processes will change for bank customers.

We wanted to let you know that while Internet Banking payments may change, there will be no changes for your customers when using POLi. The POLi experience will stay the same.

Confirmation of Payee has been introduced by the banking industry to help make online banking more secure and we fully support that. We’ve never experienced any payee fraud in POLi and these changes will help us to ensure this high level of security is maintained.

When your customers use POLi to pay you they will not be impacted by the Confirmation of Payee changes. In the background, we’ll be using the new Confirmation of Payee system to complement our security systems.

From the 28 of November banks will start implementing Confirmation of Payee in a staged rollout. You do not have to do anything. There may be some temporary disruption to the POLi service during this time, which we will work to minimise.
